Fictional Story: Mary Beth’s suicidal attempts

A woman by the name of Mary Beth Logan 58, life took a downward spiral turn when her mom Jean Logan and dad Dwight Schumacher divorced when Mary Beth was only 5. Born in and raised in the hood of Los Angeles, CA, Mary Beth would wind up leaving LA when Mary Beth was 25. Mary Beth’s downward spiral turn happened when Mary Beth’s mom walked out on her and Mary Beth’s dad. Mary Beth’s mom moved to the aloha state of Honolulu, HI. At 5, Mary Beth was raised by her dad which led to Mary Beth’s rocky upbringing. Mary Beth had to endure her dad’s lifestyle of girlfriends coming by the house. Mary Beth never would understand it but by the time Mary Beth was 10, Mary Beth’s dad introduced Mary Beth to smoking crack. Mary Beth would get high with her dad and Mary Beth’s dad was a womanizer. To say that Mary Beth’s life was dysfunctional growing up is an understatement.

By the time Mary Beth was a teenager, Mary Beth was smoking crack and became an addict. At 16, Mary Beth would try to question her dad about the different women he had over the house. The women would shun, ridicule, and belittle Mary Beth and Mary Beth’s dad would choose the woman over Mary Beth. Mary Beth’s dad told Mary Beth that if she had a problem with her dad’s lifestyle then she could leave. Mary Beth’s dad didn’t hesitate when he kicked Mary Beth out of the house. Mary Beth was hurt naturally that her dad was a junkie, who loved chasing after women. Mary Beth’s dad never gave up drugs nor women because that particular lifestyle was what Mary Beth’s dad understood. Mary Beth’s
dad’s dad was a junkie and a womanizer, too.

Meanwhile, Mary Beth and her mom kept in touch through writing letters to one another and chatting on the phone. Mary Beth attempted to try and take her own life when Mary Beth attempted to overdose on “over the counter drugs” when Mary Beth was 18. Mary Beth’s mom apologized for not taking Mary Beth with her when Mary Beth’s mom would eventually move to Honolulu after being homeless for 10 years. Mary Beth’s mom literally explained how she survived in Honolulu by being housekeeper and moving up to the front desk in motels and hotels, where Mary Beth’s mom would eventually save up enough money to stay in a hotel where Mary Beth’s mom worked at. Mary Beth’s mom would then have enough money to get an apartment. Mary Beth planned on moving to Honolulu, but Mary Beth’s mom couldn’t afford a plane ticket to send for her daughter. Mary Beth’s mom would meet a really good friend, who helped Mary Beth’s mom get the apartment in HI. Mary Beth started to realize that there was hope for her and that there was “light at the end of the tunnel” when Mary Beth graduated from the University of California at 22.

Mary Beth would leave LA at 25 and saved up enough money to move to the aloha state. Mary Beth’s dad could not give up his double-life lifestyle and passed away 7 years ago of a drug overdose when Mary Beth was 51. Mary Beth reunited with her mom after 20 years of being separated from one another. Mary Beth is grateful for her mom and have forgiven her mom for leaving. Mary Beth thought what her mom did was courageous and understands why Mary Beth’s mom had to do what she had to do. Mary Beth’s story that started off as downward spiral became a “happily ever after” happy ending.
